Accessible Bathrooms for Specialist Housing

24 Sheltered Apartments | Specialist Housing | Norwich

The Great Hospital – Elaine Herbert House

Situated within the historic grounds of The Great Hospital in Norwich, Elaine Herbert House is a carefully considered redevelopment transforming a former 1970s care home site into 24 purpose-built sheltered apartments.

Delivered by H Smith & Sons (Honingham) Ltd, the scheme was designed specifically for elderly residents and individuals with disabilities, creating safe, accessible and sustainable accommodation to support independent living.

Bathco was appointed to provide bathroom products tailored to the specialist requirements of the development, with a focus on accessibility, safety, durability and ease of use.

The project’s sensitive historic setting also required archaeological monitoring throughout construction, with the discovery of 19th-century foundations and structural remains adding further historical significance to the redevelopment.
